Woodhouse Lane Wythenshawe

The Silk Street Manchester project reimagines affordable housing with a focus on sustainability, community, and a connection to the city’s rich industrial heritage. By transforming a brownfield site overlooking the Rochdale Canal, we are building more than just homes; we are weaving a tapestry of green living, social connection, and economic opportunity.

Woodhouse Lane is an affordable housing development delivering 18 high-quality apartments for Wythenshawe Community Housing Group on the site of a former church in the heart of Wythenshawe.

The scheme transforms a long-vacant brownfield site into a sustainable residential development, providing much-needed affordable homes while contributing to the wider regeneration of the local neighbourhood. The design responds to the site's history through carefully considered brick detailing, creating a contemporary building that acknowledges the character and heritage of the former church.

Sustainability was embedded throughout the project, incorporating sustainable drainage, electric vehicle charging infrastructure and high-quality landscaping to create an attractive and resilient place to live.

Developed in partnership with Manchester City Council, the project demonstrates how sensitive redevelopment can unlock underused land, deliver lasting community benefits and provide well-designed affordable homes that strengthen existing neighbourhoods.
