The Oaks (HIAB)

The Silk Street Manchester project reimagines affordable housing with a focus on sustainability, community, and a connection to the city’s rich industrial heritage. By transforming a brownfield site overlooking the Rochdale Canal, we are building more than just homes; we are weaving a tapestry of green living, social connection, and economic opportunity.

For the new 77,000 sq ft manufacturing and logistics hub at Wrexham Industrial Estate, we developed a design that redefines the relationship between industrial performance and environmental stewardship.

Created for Swedish crane manufacturer HIAB, the scheme consolidates its UK operations within a highly efficient, purpose-built facility.

Set within a 54-acre site, our masterplan deliberately prioritises landscape over built form, embedding the building within a 45-acre ecoheritage park that enhances biodiversity and creates a distinctive setting for industrial activity.

The architecture expresses robustness and precision through a clear structural language, while carefully considered massing, materiality, and edge conditions soften its presence within the landscape. The result is a high-performance workplace that balances logistical efficiency with ecological value—demonstrating how contemporary industrial design can be both commercially driven and environmentally responsive
