LSTM Central Campus Revitalisation: Transforming Liverpool’s Academic Hub
The MCAU LSTM Central Campus project in Liverpool envisions the transformation of the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) campus into a vibrant and cohesive academic hub. The design proposes a central heart for the campus, reconnecting fragmented buildings and addressing site constraints such as major roadways and historical preservation.
The project seeks to activate Pembroke Place with medium-scale buildings featuring active frontages and social uses while celebrating historical elements such as the Grade II listed no.35 Pembroke Place.
With a focus on sustainability, the design maximises solar gain and passive heating through glazed structures, creating a welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. The project aims to foster chance encounters and knowledge sharing while preserving the unique heritage of the LSTM campus.
Through thoughtful urban regeneration and innovative design solutions, the MCAU LSTM Pembroke House project aspires to enchance the overall experience for the LSTM community and contribute to the revitalisation of the surrounding urban area.
