David has extensive and award winning architectural, urban design, and property development experience. He has worked for over 25 years at the forefront of the design and development industry.
He has held board director and senior roles within international architects’ practices and has delivered many award-winning schemes across the UK in many work sectors including large-scale mixed-use development, residential, retail, and the education sectors.
Having also previously worked client side for a number of years David has a true understanding of the needs and pressures of our clients, and is obsessed that in all our projects we deliver creative and sustainable design solutions which always meet viability, and always bring added value into the process.
David is passionate about seriously playing ‘our’ part in delivering positive change believing that design can be the driver, but it also needs to have a deep awareness and understanding of the social and environmental issues arising out of an increasingly complex and ever changing urban environment. One which is constantly presenting us with many ‘modern city’ problems and challenges to solve and was the reason MCAU was set up.
A culture of reduced carbon impact, minimised waste, and positive regeneration with a people first approach always in our mind needs to be our refreshed goal, delivering relevant design and development strategy and a new urbanism which responds to uphold Sustainable Development Goals. He believes that our built environments always need to respond in this context, and acknowledge health and wellbeing has never been so important in design outcome as it is now in a post covid-19 world.
His approach is very hands on, particularly in the early stages of all projects, believing that deeply thought out strategy and design, grounded on creating a sense of place with commercial awareness, is necessary to ensure that all our places that we work to create can ultimately be delivered.
