Build to Rent

Brownell Street Sheffield

This site is the final component in the regeneration of the Well Meadow Street area of Sheffield City Centre. Our scheme has been designed to enhance the relationship of the site to the surrounding area, with a detailed design that complements the character of the Conservation Area in which it sits.

The site is within a Conservation Area comprising a number of Grade II* listed metal working buildings characteristic of Sheffield’s rich industrial heritage.

Working for Grainger PLC MCAU’s  approach to tackling this problematic site sought to utilise the area’s heritage. Two development blocks re-instate the urban fabric of the area. Designed to the back edge of footpath they reinstate the historical street pattern and restore a previously lost public square on the edge of the conservation area.

The contemporary design is sympathetic to the textured red facing brickwork and harmonises with its historic context.

The development proposal at Brownell Street in Sheffield delivers 284 high quality build to rent residential apartments and commercial space to support the local community, rooftop terraces and supporting communal spaces.
